How to convert
From 1:00 PM to 11:59 PM add 12 to the hour: 3:45 PM is 1545. From 1:00 AM to 11:59 AM keep the hour and add a leading zero: 7:05 AM is 0705. Midnight is 0000 and noon is 1200. To go back, subtract 12 from any hour above 12 and add PM.
How it is said
Military time is written without a colon and spoken as hundreds: 1400 is "fourteen hundred" and 0630 is "zero six thirty". The military often adds a time-zone letter, such as 1400Z for UTC ("Zulu").
