Today

On October 23, 2026, it is day 296 of 365 in 2026, with 69 days left (not counting today).

How the count works

The day of the year is the number of days since January 1 plus one, so January 1 is day 1 and December 31 is day 365, or day 366 in a leap year. Days left is the year length minus today's day number, so today is not counted. A year is a leap year if it divides by 4, except century years, which must divide by 400: 2000 was a leap year, 2100 will not be. The next leap year is 2028.

Turning days into weeks and workdays

Divide the days left by 7 for weeks. For working days, use the business days calculator, which also skips the remaining federal holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. For a countdown to one event, the days until tool is quicker.
