Cat life stages
The 2021 AAHA/AAFP Feline Life Stage Guidelines group cats as kittens (to 1 year), young adults (1 to 6 years), mature adults (7 to 10 years) and seniors (over 10 years). Vets usually suggest a check-up at least once a year, and more often for seniors.
Worked example
A 7-year-old cat is about 44 in human years: 24 for the first two years, plus 4 for each of the next five. A 15-year-old is about 76. The chart is an estimate; diet, weight and whether the cat lives indoors make a real difference.
